Proposing is a moment of magic and significance for the couple, a memory that they will carry with them forever. However, is it really acceptable to propose at someone else's wedding? According to a DJ who thought otherwise, he made sure to ruin the moment by playing a disruptive song instead of a romantic one.
Part-Time DJ Ruins Romance

In a recent controversial Reddit post, the OP reveals that he is a 27-year-old part-time DJ who mostly performs for family and friends, and doesn't consider himself a professional. He adds that he only takes on gigs occasionally for some extra cash on the side.

Having accepted a low-cost DJ gig at a friend of a friend's wedding, the crowd was on the dance floor when a guest, whom he referred to as "Kevin," asked him to play the song Golden Hour.

The DJ found the request "odd" since all the guests were up and dancing. Nonetheless, he remembered he was told to fulfill all requests at the wedding, so he played it anyway.

As soon as the DJ began playing Golden Hour, the dance floor started to clear up, and Kevin invited a woman to join him for a slow dance.
After a little while, a few more people joined in, including the bride and groom.

At the particular part of the song that felt fitting for the situation, Kevin saw an opportunity to propose to the woman on the dance floor.
“Kevin got down on one knee and I knew right away that he was going to propose,” the OP writes.
It’s Inappropriate

The DJ felt it wasn't appropriate for Kevin to propose on the dance floor as all eyes were on them, and it could be awkward to do this at someone else’s wedding.
Moreover, he feared he would be held responsible since he played a romantic song “Out of Nowhere.”

To avoid ruining the day and being blamed for it, he decided to quickly change the song as soon as Kevin pulled out the box and started playing BOOGIE at a higher volume.

This created a difficult situation for him as the family kept questioning why he had spoiled the proposal.

He tried to explain to the family that it was not appropriate for Kevin to propose at someone else's wedding, but they were not convinced and instead placed all the blame on him, telling him that he “shouldn't have an opinion” because he was “just the DJ.”

The family also revealed to the DJ that Kevin “got publicly humiliated,” as some guests had prior knowledge of the proposal and were taking videos and posting it live on Instagram for all their friends to see.

While the DJ defended his decision by saying, “That would’ve made the newlyweds hurt,” the family resorted by saying, “You shouldn’t have assumed that the bride didn’t want that.”
