Man spends $1 million on a Ferrari but still has to prove that he deserves to buy their SUV because of the brand’s “egotistical personality”

Among luxury car enthusiasts, Ferraris are considered one of the most sought-after brands, with many owners proudly displaying their prized cars. "However, one man who owned several Ferraris decided never to buy one again, raising his middle finger and declaring, 'I'm done with them.'"

TikTok user Mario Zelaya, known as @supermariozelaya, recently shared a "crazy" story that might make you think twice about owning the renowned luxury car brand, Ferrari.

Mario revealed that he owns a few of them and has spent well over a million dollars on these luxury cars. However, he made the decision never to buy a Ferrari again after the company asked him to do something only a "b.tch" would do.

Despite currently owning a Pista, Mario recently decided to trade it in for an SUV due to its “cool” look. Unfortunately, the item was sold out, so he received a text message asking if he was still interested.

Mario said “yes” and asked if they had an allocation available. They told Mario, who lives in Canada, that there was none available at the time, but there might be one in New York on February 9th.

When Buying a Ferrari Requires a Dog and Pony Show

While the brand informed Mario that there might be an SUV in NYC, he would have to cover the cost of the flights and attend in person. In other words, they asked him to travel to another country, attend a dog and pony show, spend a million dollars on a car, and prove that he deserved one.

He notes that this is why Jay Leno, who has a passion for luxury cars, doesn't possess a Ferrari - their complicated customer service makes it difficult for him to own one.

In a follow-up video explaining why he wouldn't purchase a Ferrari again, Mario, who has been a customer since 2016, reveals that Ferrari came across his TikTok video and gave him a call.

“The phone call literally confirms everything that I already told you,” he says. “That they were in New York, they have more allocations available, and they want other customers who express interest to fly to New York for the chance to maybe get one.”

Luxury Brands Out of Touch?

Mario argues that this way of selling their cars is "messed up" and isn't appropriate for this generation, even though it might have been fitting for individuals who “like schmoozing with other old people and show how much money they have.”

Ferrari's "Egotistical Personality”

Mario takes issue with Ferrari's "egotistical" personality that requires people to prove their worth in order to be deserving of a Ferrari vehicle.

He explains, “If YOU are telling me that you are going to spend a million dollars with me, I’m going to fly you out, fly your family out, send you guys to the Caribbean, and send you guys to the Bahamas.”

Why Ferrari Needs to Reconsider Its Sales Practice

Mario finds it illogical to pay for his own travel expenses, view a car for which he doesn't receive a guaranteed allocation, and only potentially improve his chances of obtaining an allocation and showing his "commitment" to the brand.

In a gesture of frustration, Mario raises his middle finger and exclaims "Come on."

Poor Experience with Customer Service

Mario also points out that his video doesn't even touch on the customer service issues he faced in the past.

He claims that Ferrari itself recognized these problems and brought in new staff to fix the long-standing issues.

Mario acknowledges that the salesperson at Ferrari is an "awesome dude" whom he has no issues with and has worked with for a long time.

However, when he told him that he would have to cover his own hotel and flight expenses and that showing up in person would help, Mario's response was basically "LOL"

Paying to Look Pretty and Hoping to Get a Ferrari

“Sounds like I’m a hooker bro,” reads Mario's text message. “But I’m going there to pay to have someone screw me. I spend my time, money, show up to fill up a room, look pretty, in the hopes of me being there in person allows me the ability to spend half a mil on a car?”

Mario corrects himself, noting that the Ferrari car in question actually cost $740,000.

Insulting Invitations

“I hear you bro.. I’m just extending the invite to clients that have showed interest,” the Ferrari salesperson replied.

“Thanks, bro,” Mario responded. “I gotta be honest: I’m not some b.tch that’s gonna jump through hoops to buy a car to prove I’m worthy with no assurances. That’s just insulting.

Done with Them

Mario has decided that he is "done with them" and will likely sell his Pista after this negative experience with Ferrari.

During his conversation with Ferrari, Mario made it clear that he was not interested in the SUV and unwilling to work on anything with them.

Mario's Verdict on Ferrari, Why Two Lamborghinis Beat One Overpriced Ferrari

Concluding his video, Mario suggests that the reason why there's more allocation available is that Ferrari cars are priced way too high, which “killed” any potential secondary value.

Instead of purchasing one Ferrari, you could easily buy two Lamborghinis which, in his opinion, boast better specs, technology, and aesthetics.
