Parents Take Their Son To A Nail Salon To Get His Nails Painted Pink After His Teacher Told Him That Nail Painting Is “Just For Girls”

In the face of gender stereotyping, parents decided to take their son to a nail salon after he was told by a teacher that painting nails is only for girls. There, he had his nails and toenails painted a stunning hot pink.

Society has long held onto the idea that girls are drawn to pink and boys to blue, girls prefer playing with dolls like Barbie while boys prefer superheroes like Spiderman, and that girls enjoy ballet while boys enjoy soccer.

Any child who expresses interest in something that goes against their gender-specific stereotype is often met with adult intervention aimed at "correcting" their behavior and steering them towards gender-specific traits

As society becomes more accepting and open-minded, many parents today are breaking away from traditional gender stereotypes and embracing their children's desires, no matter how unconventional they may seem. As long as their children are happy, that's all that matters to them.

A recent TikTok video by Christian Shearhod perfectly captured the sentiment that many modern parents share.

In his video captions "My son's teacher told him he shouldn't paint his nails," Christian expressed frustration with the fact that his son was “really upset” over not being able to paint his nails simply because he's a boy.

The father reveals that his when son, Eden, expressed interest in painting his nails, his teacher responded by telling him that it's "only for girls."

In response to his son's disappointment, Christian proudly announces in his video, "So today, I'm taking him to the nail shop."

As they drive to the nail shop, Christian films his son with green hair and asks him about the incident with the teacher, to which his son confirms, looking upset, that the teacher told him not to paint his nails.

His dad questions why the teacher forbade him from painting his nails, and the son replies that it's "just for girls," prompting both parents to sarcastically gasp for air in disbelief.

As they arrive at "Natures Nails," Eden seems to be excited for his long-awaited nail painting session

Excitedly, the child enters the nail salon and eagerly points to pink nail polish, expressing his desire to have his nails painted that color.

He then takes a seat in the chair and giggles in anticipation, looking forward to both his fingernails and toenails being painted pink.

"I want pink, I want pink!" exclaims Eden with excitement.

"Okay, okay," responds his dad.

The nail technician begins to work on his nails, and the proud dad adds an overlay text saying "filling his tiny little fingernails" along with a heart emoji.

After getting his nails done, Christian's son Eden seems over the moon with his new pink nails, excitedly blowing on them to speed up the drying process. "I have no idea where he learned this," Christian notes.

"Let little boys enjoy what they like... trucks, Spider-Man, Paw Patrol," Christian advises parents, "and maybe painting their nails too."

The comment section was overflowing with words of support from viewers.

“This is amazing but I'd be having a talk with his teacher too,” one user wrote, adding that the teacher didn’t have to say this to “that sweet boy.”

A second shared a personal story, “I’m a girl, and work on cars. My brother-in-law loves the color pink. My son loves his nails polished. The earth still turns the right way.”

A third showed support, “This is so CUTE!!!”

A fourth stressed, “Teachers shouldn't be all up in children's HOME life.”
