Black woman with bright blue hair stopped and asked if she was a mermaid, she took a deep breath and answered

A blue-haired Black woman was faced with a challenging decision a little girl stopped her to ask if she was a mermaid: should she reveal the harsh truth or temporarily brighten the little girl's day by telling a white lie?

A Magical Encounter with a Curious Little Girl

Little ones never hesitate to ask the most innocent questions, and that's exactly what happened when a young girl saw the TikToker Domanique Grant (@domaniquegrant) with her bright blue hair in the street. With kids’ usual curiosity, she asked whether Grant could possibly be a mermaid.

In the video, Grant captured the moment and shared it with an onscreen caption that read, "Today a little girl asked me if I was a mermaid...I said this?!"

At that moment, the TikToker found herself uncertain about how to respond to the girl's innocent question—whether to opt for brutal honesty or to choose the path of sweet lies.

However, with some quick thinking, she made the conscious decision to lie to the girl, hoping not to shatter the innocence of this young princess's childhood.

"I looked at her in the face, I took a deep breath, and in my most honest tone I said, '100 percent I'm a Disney princess and I'm Ariel's cousin,'" Grant recalls in her video.

Viewers Applaud the TikToker's Heroic Act for the Little Girl

Grant was showered with love and support from her viewers, who flooded the comment section with encouraging messages like, "That's right! Keep the magic alive!" and heartfelt pleas such as, "Please don't ever say no! You made that little girl's year!"

One commenter, who seemed to share the sentiment of using lies to preserve a child's happiness, expressed, "There's nothing wrong with helping a child keep the magic for as long as possible." Another commenter asserted confidently, The only answer there could have been. Period.”

In addition to the supportive comments, there were others who hailed the blue-haired TikToker as a hero for her response to the little girl. They praised her response by writing, "Not all heroes wear capes."

Grant's Top Responses to Children's Disney Princess Questions

It seems that this wasn’t the first time Grant had encountered a child asking if she was a Disney princess, as she had previously shared a video on her page where she reveals her top responses when young kids ask if she is a mermaid.

Among the answers she gives, one adorable response is, "Yes, I'm Ariel's cousin." Another heartwarming answer she offers is, "Yes, but only if you believe in magic and kindness."

In a lighthearted scenario like this, how would you respond? Would you embrace the mindset of revealing the truth about Santa Claus, or would you opt for a temporary deception, knowing that the kids will eventually outgrow their beliefs?

Regardless, it is easy to imagine the sheer happiness that little girl felt upon meeting Ariel's cousin in the street—an encounter she will forever hold in her memories.
