One TikToker recently told the story of how he got $170 off of a rude customer after she claimed she wasn’t going to tip him at all – because of a 25% gratuity fee that is automatically calculated with the bill.
A Group Of 26 Decides They Want To Eat At A Restuarant 1-hour Before Closing

In the video, TikToker named Dean Redmond started off by explaining that he had just an hour left before closing when a group of 26 people came into the restaurant one night.
Not Having Enough Space To Fit Everyone

Redmond explains that when they came to the restaurant to be served, he told the group that he would have to sit them at 2 separate tables as they do not have a place to seat them all together.
One Woman Got Angry and Asked For the Manager

But one woman in the group, who Redmond decides to label a ‘Karen’, wasn’t happy with this arrangement and yelled at him, claiming he didn’t know what he was talking about and to go get his manager.
The only space available is in the backroom

According to the video, which has been viewed 180,000 times, his manager told the group that they could “make it work” and she went to seat them at a long table in the backroom of the restaurant.
Group Decided to Eat Somewhere Else

"By the time we come out, they’re like, ‘We’re actually going to go somewhere else.’,” he explained, “ At this point, I didn’t care because we were already 40 minutes until close; there was no way we were going to be out until 9:30.”
However, They Changed Their Mind and Went Back

However, the group comes back ‘20 minutes later’ with their minds changed, agreeing to be seated at the table.
This is when Redmond starts getting into how this would be one of the longest nights of life.
‘Karen’ Apparently Has A Bone To Pick With Everything

When they return, Redmond explains that they may not be able to serve them as they were closing soon, but the ‘Karen’ from before starts yelling again for Redmond to get his manager.
Redmond Had No Choice But to Seat The Group

He mentioned that he started apologizing profusely before going to get his manager, who then decides to seat the group despite how close to closing they were.

The TikToker immediately goes up to the group to get both drink and food orders at once to speed things along since they were 20 minutes to closing, but the same woman gets upset with him and calls him ‘rude’ for rushing the group.

"By the time I get all of their order, it’s literally past close,” he said, “They ordered seven champagne bottles because they were pis..ed we didn’t have hard alcohol. I get those for them, drop them off, and put their food in."
"Every 10 Seconds"

Their order was out in just 40 minutes, but apparently, while they were waiting they asked Redmond when their food was going to be ready “every 10 seconds”.

They get their food, and Redmond assumes the worst has passed until the woman starts complaining about an apparent hair that she found in her food.
"It's literally 40 minutes past closing at this point, and this woman starts screaming, 'There's a hair in my food!'"
She Then Blamed The Chefs

The woman tells Redmond that the hair “obviously came from one of the chefs”, to which the TikToker explains that all the chefs are bald. The woman then shifts the blame and claims that the hair came from him, which Redmond denied.

Eventually, the group decides to eat the rest of their food in relative peace. Once they were done, the TikToker and his manager decided to bypass offering the dessert menu and bring them to check directly afterward.
The Woman Was Left Fuming After Getting The $600 Bill

But, unsurprisingly at this point, the ‘Karen’ was left crying foul after she looked over the bill.
Now she was upset that each bottle of champagne her group ordered was $40 a piece, totaling almost $300.

She started complaining to Redmond, arguing that he should have told her how much they cost beforehand. He apologized for the price and brought his manager over who reminded the woman that though she was upset, she would still have to pay.

She also complained about the entire bill being over $600, apparently forgetting that there were 26 people in her group.
"She's like, 'This place is highway robbery, $610 for a dinner.'", he said, “That’s like $30 per person.”

In the end, the woman told Redmond that he shouldn’t expect any tip because the bill was so high.
She even wrote “You did a horrible job on a napkin” which Redmond claims that he burned up and threw in the trash.
Tiktoker Earned $170

However, he walked away from the situation with the last laugh.
According to the TikToker, his restaurant policy states that any group over 14 is automatically charged a 25% gratuity fee. Redmond ended up making around $170 from the whole thing.
Many viewers were delighted with the way things ended, but others were more concerned with the manager.
