Openly-Gay Teen Exposes Homophobic Bullies in a Viral Video - “Example of what going on in my life”

Just like many openly-gay teenagers, the 18-year-old Landon Jones has been receiving “negative attention” from anti-gay bullies at school and even outside school, but the Californian high school senior decided to break his silence and expose his bullies on the internet.

Jones was not bothered when he was “called ‘f....t’ countless times at school,” but the fact that his bullies came to his house was the final straw.

The viral TikTok video shared by Jones in October captures one of his bullies knocking on the doors of his house and saying “Does Landon live here?”

“Yeah, why?” Jones’ dad responds.

“Someone said to come up here. Because he’s a f.....t!” the bully yells loudly before he runs away.

Jones then comments on the incident. Saying that this is an “example of what going on in my life.”

Surprisingly, Jones claims that he has “no idea who these people are” and that he has “never even spoken to them before…ever.”

According to Jones, the only reason those bullies are after him is the fact that he’s gay. He even got followed by them before when he was with his Sister at Starbucks, called him ‘f.....t’, threatened him, and wouldn’t let him leave his parking spot.

Jones made it clear to all bullies, including his, following someone to their house and calling them names is a “hate crime,” and “harassment.”

“I hope you guys had a really good laugh, I hope you found it funny attacking me like this” Jones wishes to his bullies at the end of the video.

“My mind is f.....g blown,” Jones expresses happiness over the amount of love and support he received after sharing the incident.

After sharing his video, Jones had many people, including major content creators and influencers supporting him, with more than 1.3m views, almost 380k likes, and 15k comments.

LGBTQ+ TikToker Josh Helfgott showed support to Jones during this difficult time. He commented: “If there’s one thing I got from this video, it’s how STRONG you are and how weak they are. I’m so sorry this is happening. Keep shining, Landon.”

Famous TikToker Ophelia genuinely wanted to help. She commented: “I’m so very sorry you are going through this. How can we help you? Pls tell us.”

Many other users condemned the incident and even encouraged Jones to get the police involved, “please get the police involved and protect yourself,” one user wrote.

In an interview with NBC News, Jones said he decided to speak up because he was “sick of being silent about it”

He also mentioned that because of “bullying and a rough experience with the school”, he decided to transition to virtual schooling.

His parents are determined to make sure that those bullies who target their son pay the consequences, adding that they have already contacted the school.

Their efforts have paid off - a spokesperson for their son’s school district said in a statement to NBC News that the district had collaborated with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department (OCSD) and “immediately launched a comprehensive investigation to uncover the facts of the incidents”

According to a Family Lives article, people target gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender individuals because they’re seen as being different. And if homophobic bullying turns into threats, the best course of action is to report it to the police as a hate crime.
