Woman Refuses to Start Work a Single Minute Before Eight to Make Sure She Works Only for the Hours She's Paid for

A woman recently sparked controversy with her unconventional approach to arriving to work on time, as she shared that she waits in her car until the clock strikes 8 and refuses to enter her workplace even a millisecond earlier.

Regardless of whether someone's work hours are long or short, it seems to be universally agreed upon that nobody truly enjoys their job and would not willingly work any extra hours.

However, one woman takes this sentiment to another level, refusing to work even a second beyond what she's being paid for.

TikToker Ana Ibarra (@anaxxibarra) posted a video of herself sitting in a car just before the start of her work hours and unwilling to enter her workplace until the clock reads exactly eight.

"I'm literally in the car waiting for it to be exactly 8 so I can walk in my job,” Ana says, “because I start work at 8.”

She continues, "That means I'm gonna leave at exactly the time that I'm supposed to leave."

Ana may not be thrilled about her job, but she certainly knows how to enjoy a good bag of hot Cheetos. As Ana waits for her work hours to begin at 8, she seizes the moment to enjoy some quality snacking time in her car.

Perhaps the cheesy, spicy goodness of the hot Cheetos is just what Ana needs to take her mind off of the workday ahead.

The comments section was a mixed bag of reactions from viewers who shared their thoughts on Ana entering work at the exact start time.

Several viewers took to the comments section to voice their support for Ana's approach, stating that employers “don't pay us to walk in and get settled.”

A different commenter admitted in the comments section that they “do the same” as Ana, waiting in their car until the exact start time before entering their workplace.

Although waiting in the car until the very last minute may seem like an appealing idea, it may not be suitable for all workplaces, as one commenter learned the hard way.

"I got in trouble for doing that because apparently, at my workplace, I'm expected to start working at my scheduled time, not just walk in," they wrote.

Others expressed their frustration with workplace policies that require them to “use sick time” if they don't start working immediately, suggesting they can’t do what Ana did without fear of penalty.

When a commenter suggested that entering work at the exact start time meant being unprepared to work and therefore late, Ana gave a sarcastic response. "What are y'all, boomers?" she asked sarcastically, seemingly mocking the idea of rigid adherence to work schedules.

While Ana's approach may not be for everyone, it's clear that she is comfortable not working a single minute more than she is being paid for. Plus, she's got a bag of hot Cheetos to keep her company in the meantime.

Are you planning to follow in her footsteps by waiting in your car until the exact start time, or do you consider yourself more of a 'walk in whenever' type of person? It's up to you to decide.
