Corporate Jobs Are “Pointless” and “Endless” Just Like Sorting Sand at the Bottom of the Ocean, Employee Says

A recent viral video of an employee saying corporate jobs are "endless” and “pointless," has sparked a wave of online discussion among corporate employees, who opened up about the hidden struggles that come with this sought-after job.

The appeal of corporate jobs is undeniable, as they provide a range of benefits that are hard to come by in other job types, such as a steady income and a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance, retirement plans, and paid leave.

However, like any other job, corporate jobs have their downsides, as argued by TikToker Joey Neverland (@joeyneverland) who recently posted a video challenging the common belief that working for a corporate company automatically equates to a better and easier life.

To those who believe corporate jobs are easy, Joey compares them to sorting sand at the bottom of the ocean – “endless” and “pointless.”

He argues that although a corporate job may not always be inherently difficult, it can feel like an endless cycle that “causes itself.”

Joey also highlights the unpredictable nature of corporate jobs, as one can receive a sudden and time-consuming task at any moment.

He notes in the caption, "I sit there with the possibility of a silly little task for nine hours."

The comments may alter your perspective on sought-after corporate jobs.

Viewers with firsthand experience in such roles were quick to share their own struggles and challenges at the workplace, suggesting that maybe it isn't the perfect job after all.

“Literally trying to spread out an hour of work into out 8hrs,” one person wrote.

“I worked retail for years then become a software engineer. I work 1/5 as hard for 5 times the pay,” a second shared.

“I’ve made about 5 ‘decks’ last year for people who literally glanced at it and never looked at it again,” a third commented.

“And they take it so seriously,” a fourth added, “No one is gonna die if you have an off day.”

In response to a commenter’s warning not to even “dare” try to fix an issue at the workplace, the OP warned back, “Or else you’re the issue now.”

Despite working long hours on tasks, some corporate employees may still feel uncertain about what they're doing. One person even compared the job to "working towards no real end goal," while another admitted, "I'm doing something...but what exactly? I don't know."

Corporate jobs may seem like the ideal choice for their stability, security, and opportunities for advancement, but they also have their own unique challenges, as evidenced by the comments of corporate employees themselves.

From the pressure to perform to the need to adapt to new challenges and tackle endless tasks, corporate employees face a range of challenges in their coveted roles. These difficulties highlight that even the most attractive jobs can become a grind once you're in them.
