Living with lactose intolerance is a never-ending struggle as your body constantly works against you, but one woman’s struggle was doubled when her mother’s employees overheard her loudest and most embarrassing farts, a situation that made her wish she could just die.
In a video that has since gone viral, TikToker Isabela Barbosa (@_bela_amor) decided to share her embarrassment publicly on the platform.
“I wanna d!e,” she says in the video. “I just had the worst first impression of my life.”
Despite being lactose intolerant and receiving constant warnings from her husband to avoid dairy, Isabela admits that she still indulges in foods that she knows will leave her with an upset stomach.
Everything started when Isabela decided to treat herself to an M&M milkshake, only to feel the unpleasant consequences in her stomach shortly afterward.
As luck would have it, she was able to use a nearby house's bathroom as her mom owns a cleaning business, and there were both her cleaning employees and a group of other people at the house.
The mom then introduced Isabela to a client and asked if she could quickly use the bathroom, to which the sweet old lady kindly agreed. Little did she know that what would happen next would be nothing short of explosive.
As Isabella endured terrible stomach pain, the sound was similar to that of the fiery “pits of hell.”
Fortunately, the pain lessened for a while, and Isabela hoped that using the bathroom would put end to her discomfort. However, fate had other plans in store for the lactose intolerant.
The worst part was that the bathroom was right next to the living room, and she could hear her mother's employees talking outside.
“And then all of a sudden, I just let out the biggest f...ng fart. And it's not just one fart – it's that one that you can't stop.”
As she sat there in a stranger's house bathroom, all Isabela could hear is silence. “My soul left my body at that point,” she says.
Isabela tried her best to remain calm in the most uncomfortable of situations, but after she got out of the bathroom, she found herself at a loss for words and didn’t know what to do next.
“But my natural instinct was to just look at the old lady and be like, thank you,” she shares.
As Isabela was making her way out of the house, one of her mother's employees who didn’t hear loud farts was on the second floor, yet she could eventually smell it.
"The employee comes down as I'm walking out, and she walks inside the bathroom. All you hear is, 'Oh, ah, ah! Oh, my God.'"

Isabela's story up viral on TikTok, with many viewers relating to her struggles with lactose intolerance.
“I heard ‘lactose intolerant’. I already know where this is going,” one user wrote.
“Every lactose intolerant person ever: ‘I’m fine, I’m FIINEE’. #icanrelate,” a second shared.
“I’ve always wondered why bathrooms aren’t sound proof,” a third suggested.
“The sound effects are hilarious!” a fourth commented.
A fifth person shared their own secret to coping with lactose intolerance discomfort, which is trying to “make as much noise as possible,” like turning on music, watching TikTok, or even turning on the faucet.
At the end of the day, although Isabel's situation is extremely embarrassing, it’s just one example of the challenges of dealing with lactose intolerance, and her story serves as a reminder for those with the same issue to simply not risk leaving the house if you can't resist the temptation of an M&M milkshake.
