In response to the question "tell me about your worst date ever," Kiaha Kurek's now-viral TikTok video features her story of a near-death experience on a date with someone she met on Plenty of Fish in 2012, “Please don’t judge,” she asks viewers, ”it was a long time ago.”
At first, her date seemed like a “nice dude” who offered to pick her up and take her out for dinner and a movie. She thought to herself, "that sounds safe enough," but was a little hesitant about getting into his car.
However, he managed to persuade her by saying, “I really wanna show you my car, I just restored it, it’s a muscle car, I’m really proud of it, I’m a safe driver, I’m not trying to do anything crazy.”
She then got into the car and noticed that he only had a lap belt and not a chest belt. Despite feeling uneasy, she brushed off her apprehension as "being paranoid" since they were only going less than two miles from her home.
They went to get some dinner, everything seemed to be fine, and they went to watch a movie together.
But while taking a left turn at a blinking yellow arrow, her date pulled forward, panicked midway, and then stopped.
Kiaha then turned to look at him and asked, “why are you stopping?”
Then suddenly when she looked to her right, all she could see is headlights. “And, I’m out, I’m unconscious,” she says.
She remembered thinking to herself that this was how she was going to die. Then when she woke up, everything was loud, her face was in pain, her eyes were burning, and she couldn't see anything.
It turned out that the vehicle that hit them was a Jeep Cherokee that collided with her side of the car at a speed of 50 miles per hour, causing Kiaha's head to break through the window. She explained that she couldn't even see due to the blood flushing into her eyes.
After she was pulled out of the car, the shock had worn off, and she could feel everything.

She shattered her femur and pelvis, broke all her ribs, lacerated her liver, and smashed her head. "So, yeah, I was in quite a bit of pain."
They rushed her to the ER and tried to stitch up her face, where she could hear her dad yelling about trying to kill the guy she went on a date with. "I'm like, Dad, not right now, please. I'm not even mad yet."
In a follow-up video, Kiaha reveals that she was eventually able to return home after undergoing treatment.

"But here's the crazy part," she says, Kiaha learns from her surgeon that the damage to her pelvis and femur is so severe that she will need to use a wheelchair for at least a year.
She also adds that she didn’t hear back from her date at all until three weeks later, only to find out that this "kid" had lied about his age on Plenty of Fish. Despite claiming to be 24, he was actually only 19, while Kiaha, on the other hand, was 25.
